About Us
Skylark Piano Service is an association of independent piano service professionals, operating under the guidance of Shawn Skylark, a Registered Piano Technician since 1974.
Since 1976 we have serviced pianos for over 48,000 clients throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento
In addition to maintaining pianos for private clients, churches, studios, institutions, teachers and professionals, we have also served as the exclusive independent "Service Department" for many piano dealers
We have relationships with most manufacturers, and are able to perform warranty service on most brands
Our owner
Shawn Skylark, continues to maintain pianos for thousands of new and regular clients.
His ability to meet the needs of the most demanding professionals is unparalleled. Shawn has extensive experience tuning, voicing, and regulating some of the worlds most exclusive pianos for a broad range of professional artists and “serious” amateurs, but he can improve the stability and tone of even the most “humble” piano.
Piano tuning
Piano tuning is an unlicensed and unregulated profession, and it can be difficult to be sure you are hiring someone qualified. You rely on the integrity and reputation of the technician to be sure you are getting the service you are paying for. We appreciate that trust, and take it VERY seriously.

When you call our "800" number, you will speak with Claudia or Crystal. (Claudia has been with Skylark Piano Service for 24 years!) They will answer your questions and help you decide who will be the right technician for you, based on your needs, budget, and location, among other factors. They will discuss in greater detail the various price ranges, and if you want to schedule an appointment with Shawn Skylark, they can do so at that time. If they recommend one of our associates, they will conference you into a conversation with that technician, and facilitate setting your appointment. Afterwards, they will take all of your information, address, phone numbers, etc.
Independent Technicians
Our associates are all independent technicians. It is our job to help you find a good technician, and help the technicians find good clients. If you are happy with their service, we invite you to contact them directly in the future. However, the "guarantee" only applies when you call us to book the appointment.
